Birdwatching at the Sueve Range
Cofiño is a little village located at the south side of Sueve Range, between Arriondas and Cantabric Sea. From this point you can have a really nice walk through the local woods and you can also enjoy both the birds inhabiting them and the amazing views to the Picos de Europa chain.
Birds here have many different ecosystems like riverside, woods, open meadows and higher spots with rocks and walls. Therefore, we might find bullfinches, common stonechats, long-tailed tits, common buzzards, vultures…
The route is short, around two hours long, depending on the amount and variety of birds we find. We don’t rush, stopping whenever necessary to clear up some doubts or to watch and listen to our winged friends.
Comfortable shoes are highly recommended but mountain or tech footwear is not mandatory (the path is flat and with a really low level of difficulty). A pair of boots or sport shoes with good soles will always help you to prevent a slip though.
We can not assure you 100% of the presence of all the birds we are supposed to watch. But in order to accomplish our aim, we kindly ask you to avoid any kind of disturbance for our winged friends. We would also be extremely grateful if you would follow our instructions.
You have up to four opportunities per day to walk with us: twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon.
We depend on the weather: in the case of a rainy day we would change the walk to another day (hopefully a sunny one!) or you could Build a nest box with us.
All participants will be covered by Public Liability and accident insurance.
